By Line and Family
LE KLINT
World-renowned classic Le Klint lampshades and fixtures are produced as genuine handcrafted pieces at the company’s premises in Odense, Denmark, while new, more modern models are constantly being developed in collaboration with leading Danish designers and craftsmen.
From the very outset of the company, Le Klint has presented high-class lighting and lampshades products in consistent, hand-made quality and timeless designs. These are classic designs, world-class applied art from Denmark.
This country has, in fact, a unique tradition of extraordinary, sensational design expressed by talents as Poul Kjaerholm, Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner, Verner Panton, Montana - and Le Klint.

THE COMPANY
It was three generations of bright minds in the Klint family who made a business out of creating inventive lighting in the form of imaginative pleat designs.
In 1901, P.V. Jensen Klint - architect, engineer, and craftsman - fitted a pleated shade to a stoneware oil lamp, and thus began the Klint family’s tradition of exquisite hand-crafted lampshades. In the years since, the art of folding these lampshades has developed into an intricate industry of hand-made, crafted lighting products.
In the 1960s, Poul Christiansen, a young student of architecture and a shining talent in design,
expanded on the classic lampshade designs through developing the Sine Line. With their seemingly random order, the magic of the Sine Line lamps still form a contrast to the straight lines of the classic pleated lamp.

DESIGN
Clean, simple and striking. The architect and furniture designer Andreas Hansen has an unmistakable recognizable style when it comes to creating both furniture and lamps. Le Klint’s customers have benefited from his talent since the 1950s. He has since created a scintillating range of lamps that make beautiful use of the traditional Le Klint shades. Le Klint has now produced lamps in two centuries. The result is a range that reflects both tradition and renewal. Time and again the classic shades are combined with new materials. Materials and Possibilities: Paper meets wood, iron, brass and steel. Le Klint’s pleated shades, made in plastic-coated paper and pure plastic, have been used in conjunction with many different materials and in every case the simple shades and natural materials have worked well together. Le Klint lamps are more than just elegant shades. They are, in fact, successful combinations of lines and materials - beautifully put together by the very best of Danish designers. This is challenging for the materials, the public, yet trendsetting beyond the confines of time.
